Original Wooden Potato Chitting Trays

These original potato chitting trays have a wonderful rustic charm that makes them perfect for display. They come branded with the producers name on the sides and some have dates as well. No two are alike so producer name and condition will vary across a batch. These crates have been stored in barns since they were replaced by newer plastic versions and we won't be washing them so don't be surprised if there's the odd blemish of countryside dirt, bird droppings, rusty nails or cobwebs which, in our opinion, simply adds to their charms.
Their footprint is bigger and they are shallower than our ever popular vintage apple and pear crates. Their shallowness makes them perfect for displaying breads, croissants and fruit & veg when used with a wax paper lining. Though we recommend giving them a good wash down before using with food. Due to their authentic and rustic nature these vintage trays are perfect for the florist or garden centre environment where they can be used to create an eye catching display. Fill them with flowers & plants or stack them on top of each other and fill with seedlings.
